Time ago, the maize (corn) was braided to dry it with the south wind. When it was completely dried, the cobs were picked one by one for using them, and finally the braid was empty, leaving only the braided leaves together. With this braid, the ancient farmers made the “yezas” by rolling the braid to make a compact cushion. This old tradition is today almost forgotten. In order to make a tribute to this old tradition and continue it with new methods, the paper YEZA is made from reused paper, trying to make the same functional object updated to today’s need of reuse waste materials.

Hace tiempo, las panojas (maíz) se trenzaban para secarlas con el viento sur. Cuando estaban completamente secas, las mazorcas se cogían una a una para ser usadas, y finalmente la trenza quedaba vacía, dejando sólo las hojas trenzadas juntas. Con esta trenza, los antiguos campesinos hacían las yezas enrollando la trenza para hacer un cojín compacto. Esta antigua tradición está hoy prácticamente olvidada. Con el objeto de homenajear esta antigua tradición y continuarla con nuevos métodos, la YEZA de papel está hecha con papel reutilizado, intentando realizar el mismo objeto funcional actualizado a la necesidad que hoy existe de reutilizar materiales de desecho.

The Bambulb Lamp is the first object of the “retrain” project created mixing materials. The reused cardboard tubes are protected with reused paper with a thin varnish layer and emulate bamboo boughs. Each tube work as lamp with a low energy light bulb on the top. The reused jerrycan works as a flowerpot for the tubes and it’s filled with cobble stones.

The jerrycan is painted and decorated with a corrugated conduit. It also has wheels to easily move the lamp.

La Lámpara Bambulb es el primer objeto del proyecto retrain creado mezclando materiales. Los tubos reutilizados de cartón están protegidos con papel reutilizado con una fina capa de barniz y emulan ramas de bambú. Cada tubo funciona como lámpara con una bombilla de bajo consumo en su parte superior. El bidón reutilizado funciona como maceta para los tubos y está rellenado con cantos rodados.

El bidón está pintado y decorado con un tubo corrugado. También dispone de ruedas para mover fácilmente la lámpara.
